MAGIC GULYÁS
Summer in the country: the crucifix is hangingthe right way, people from outside the convention are not welcome. In his atmospheric animated film, Áron Farkas creates a portrait of the shimmering dog days of summer, a time of hostility but also convincing acts of trust. For somewhat removed from village life, two great piles of plastic chairs tower into the sky, thrones for the outsiders and the perfect place for enjoying rock music and beer. But danger still lurks... Unusual perspectives and an aesthetic that recalls a fanzine come to life go hand in hand with a desire for rebellion and the willingness to go along with the moment. A condensed depiction of a life feeling in just over nine minutes, recently awarded the prize for Best Graduation Film 2025.
