1G QUETIAPINE

In the experimental film “1g Quetiapine”, a fragile reality is deconstructed in richly varied fashion.The catalyst is a critically high dose of the titular medicine: a mood stabiliser used for such mental conditions as schizophrenia, bipolar depression and mania. Moving along the winding paths of inner emotional impressions – needing to let yourself drift like a cat to keep on surviving - Siyan Liu looks within the creative space of the Kunsthochschule Kassel for meaningful forms of expression. Expressive drawings, photos and video footage are thus created that workwith surreal, metaphorical doublings. Shrouded in black humour, all the emotional shifts come together to form an art work as playful as it is risky.
